About Me

Dr Kim-Michelle Gilson is a registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years experience supporting children, adolescents and families. She has both a Masters and PhD qualification and is a Board Approved Supervisor.  She has worked in public hospitals (Royal Children's Hospital), Child Health Research Teams (University of Melbourne), Secondary Schools and Private Practice.


Kim is passionate about helping children and families feel understood and supported during difficult times. 


Since completing her Clinical Psychology training at the University of Melbourne in 2012 she has worked extensively with children experiencing bowel and bladder conditions, neurodevelopmental differences and emotional challenges related to health and medical treatment. She led the development of a new psychological service within a specialist colorectal team in the Department of Paediatric Surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital. In these roles, she worked with children from infancy to adolescence.


She has developed a special interest in parental mental health and has multiple research publications in this area. She co-developed the first parent wellbeing clinic in the  Department of Neurodevelopment and Disability at the Royal Children’s Hospital in 2017. Her research has also informed her clinical practice.


Kim currently holds the position of a Senior Clinical Educator at the Royal Children's Hospital supporting graduate psychologists complete their registrar program in medical teams.


In her spare time, she enjoys running, renovating with colour and spending time with her 3 primary school aged children!
